Bikram’s Beginners Hatha Yoga Method

Hot Yoga Helpful Tips

You need a mat, a large towel and water.  Bring enough water so you don’t have to leave during class.  You are given at least 3 water breaks during class.  For your benefit TRY to drink only at this time.  Too much water can make you sick.

Stay on your mat the whole class and keep movement to a bare minimum.  This will make your practice and others more meditative and effective.

Lie down if necessary.  It’s not important that you do everything just stay on your mat.  If you really are going to be sick then do what you have to do.  It’s only a yoga class.

Give honest effort, try in the right way and be respectful of your teacher and others.

No Props!  Including blocks, straps, shoes, socks, gloves, etc.  You only need a towel and a mat.

No excusesI’m sorry if this offends anyone but if you can’t follow the rules of your teacher and the studio we can’t help you and you are not ready for this class.

Please be on time and stay the whole class.  This is for your benefit as well as others.  Don’t expect to get in after the first breathing exercise.  Please take off your shoes if you are attending a Hot Yoga class.

Don’t eat before class!

Don’t hesitate to ask any questions anytime before or after class.

Breathe.  Practice patience, concentration, determination, self discipline and faith.

For the best results and maximum benefit practice Hot Yoga at least 3 times a week.

Take your practice serious but not too serious.  It’s ok to laugh and smile.

Every practice is different.  No expectations and don’t be discouraged if you can’t do what the person next to you is doing or what you might have done before.  ESPECIALLY, if you are practicing with an injury or any other limitation.

THANK YOU for supporting Perfect Circle Yoga and Fitness.  It is the studio’s goal to pass along this particular method of hatha yoga in its traditional form.  It has helped me and it has helped many others and that is what I want to share with you!

I am interested in starting Bikram yoga classes but have no yoga experience. I do exercise (run, elliptical, strength train) 3-5 times a week currently. What do you recommend for a yoga beginner?

      Hi Erin,

I would highly recommend Bikram Yoga. It is great for all levels but especially beginners. You will receive precise instructions and you do what you can at your pace. We do the same postures everytime so you’ll get lots of practice. Hope to see you soon! Feel free to ask more questions.
